Marine Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Marine Engineer is to work for the Quality Assurance & Vessel inspection Unit. Candidate is to provide technical services to department and other organizations on Marine matters. Work requires application of expertise/background in the field of structure (Naval Architecture) and / or main and auxiliary machinery (Marine Engineering).

The candidate should have the following minimum requirements: 1) Five (5) years experience as Class Surveyor and to be familiar with conducting periodical class surveys as well as statutory surveys. 2) Experience in conducting HSE audits onboard various types of offshore vessels. 3) Familiar with technical and administrative aspects of Marine repairs and practical aspects of Marine operations. Candidate will be required to undertake and /or coordinate assignments with minimum supervision such as the followings: A) Conducts Risk Assessment on critical areas of Marine operations and advises Marine Management on Risk Management items. B) Performs Vessel On-Hire Inspections and conducts Contractor Orientation to ensure vessels and crew meet all contractual requirements prior to entering service with Marine Department. C) Developing, issuing and testing Marine Emergency Response Procedures. D) The inspection of all Marine vessels to ensure company owned and charter vessels comply with International Maritime regulations, Marine Department and Company procedures, including Loss Prevention requirements. E) Leading Incidents Investigation Team, Reporting and Analysis for Management on all Marine incidents. F) Performs Safety Drill Audits on all Marine vessels and facilities to ensure emergency preparedness. G) Ability in development of detailed written repair specifications, labor and material estimates and On-Site Inspection during vessels refit. H) Conducts pre and post repairs trials of all equipment, accepts the vessel prior to it being back in service and ensures that all necessary repairs / inspections are accomplished to Classification Society Standards. Ability to trouble-shoot Marine machinery systems and provide diagnostic reports.
