Welding Engineer

Eaton Corporation located in Reynosa, Mexico has an opening for a Welding Engineer. This position will support the Filtration Plant, reporting to the plant manager. Position will be located at the Reynosa, Mexico plant near U.S. border in McAllen, TX.

Position Summary:
Provides engineering support to product engineering production teams. Assists with the creation and maintenance of product (fabrication), welding procedures and standards. Works on special projects as assigned by the Manager and manages special functions and/or processes such as welding and project management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

A. Ensures welding fabrication standards (materials, specifications, internal standards, processes, performance standards, factory test results, etc.) are in compliance with standard welding engineering practices and applicable ASME, API, and ISO codes.
B. Provides technical assistance to Customer Services, Manufacturing, Quality Control, other Engineering groups, subcontract sources, and Domestic and International regions when called upon, providing acceptable solutions within the scope of the project/product requirements such as cost, codes, specifications, welding requirements and project information.
C. Builds and maintains knowledge of all aspects of assigned products/projects with regard to applications, applicable design and welding codes, internal procedures, manufacturing techniques, etc., in order to provide technical assistance in a professional manner when requested.
D. Serves as technical advisor to the assigned design and/or drafting personnel; coordinates their efforts into the timely completion of projects while providing the necessary procedures, sketches, requirements and information.
E. Undertakes special studies requested by the Manager, usually involving design engineering for welding/fabrication, welding materials and processes or similar matters to support overall objectives.
F. Assist in the development welder and welding (WPS/PQR).

Education & Experience Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
2. Professional engineer’s license or minimum of 3 years experience as a practicing Welding Engineer.
3. Five years engineering experience working with ASME code products and fabrication methods.
4. Experience writing and qualifying weld procedure in accordance with ASME Section IX.
5. Experience approving/qualifying subcontractors for welding in accordance with Section IX.
6. Good communication skills, written and oral. Bi-lingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
7. Thorough knowledge of applicable ASME, API and ISO welding and pressure vessel construction codes.
8. CWI certification considered a plus
