Description: Our client in Central Alabama is looking for an experienced Mining Engineer to join their team. Qualified candidates will be open to extensive U.S. travel and helping define and improve the company’s overall production and efficiency in an open-pit environment. Responsibilities Include: · Assist in the development of short and long-term plans for progressive quarry development, and production goals. · Conduct feasibility studies to determine optimal mining methods, equipment selection, quarry site facilities, capital and operating costs, and manpower for existing and future quarry concepts. · Determine economic methods of quarrying and ore processing to optimize feed stone recovery (maximum recovery at minimum cost by providing the ore quality required). · Determine optimal drilling and blasting methods for specific quarry operations. · Assess quarry-dewatering requirements for specific quarry operations and determine optimal pumping systems and strategies. · Evaluate alternative quarrying methods to determine most economic and optimal designs and strategies for the future. · Elaborate the design of overburden and waste rock placement areas as well as reclamation concepts. · Assist in assessment and conceptual design of ore processing (crushing, screening, washing) and handling (truck hauling, conveying) systems. · Develop economic strategies for tailings handling and management systems. Qualifications Include: · BS or MS degree in Mining or Geological Engineering. · 10-15 years of mining engineering experience primarily at hard rock open-pit quarry operations. · Advanced capacity to use Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. Experience with mining software a plus. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Spanish or Portuguese are a plus. · Detailed organizational, planning and analytical skills. · Ability to work equally well independently and in teams. · Capable to manage multiple projects. · Record of strong safety performance and experience with implementing established safety programs. · Professional experience abroad (preferably in Latin America) is a plus.
