Systems Engineering Manager

Hamilton Sundstrand is among the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products. We design and manufacture aerospace systems for commercial, regional, corporate and military aircraft and are a major supplier for international space programs. Our industrial products serve industries ranging from hydrocarbon, chemical and food processing to construction and mining.
This Functional Manager position is responsible for the Systems Engineering department in Electric Systems (Rockford, Illinois). The Systems Engineering department includes approximately 70 people with responsibility for system requirements design and development, system testing, and field support of aircraft electrical products. Systems engineers are required to work with a broad range of functional disciplines including electrical, mechanical, and data communication interfaces.

Key job duties include:
- Demonstrates ownership of Systems Engineering process, ensuring consistent application across all Electric Systems programs
- Applies strong process orientation with ability to envision and implement department strategic initiatives
- Develops strong cross functional ties to establish framework for well integrated approach to development programs
- Establishing departmental tasks and priorities necessary to meet program objectives, including monitoring cost/schedule/staffing performance to plan.
- Strong leadership skills to drive organizational changes using prescriptive Standard Work, eAR, Pro Cert, PMSS, and ACE tools
- Encourage the development and growth of individual skills in the department
- Ensure compliance with Code of Ethics and EH&S objectives

BS/MS engineering degree w/15+ years experience

- At least 15 years of product development and field support experience. Aircraft electrical generation or distribution experience preferred.
- It is vitally important that the candidate can drive the development of prescriptive standard work, and the strict adherence to it throughout the product development process.
- Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORS and simulation/modeling tools such as MatLab is a plus.

Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
