Description

This is a technical position in the company's corporate environmental group. Position works with Operations and Environmental staffs to proactively manage air quality issues associated with natural gas gathering and processing operations.

Essential Functions:
1) Use engineering skills to perform technical work to ensure compliance with environmental requirements and obtain environmental permits
2) Recommend improvements in processes, management systems, procedures, and operating equipment to comply with environmental requirements.
3) Provide regulatory interpretations and technical advice to operating assets using effective communications techniques.
4) Develop a working knowledge of the technical aspects of environmental regulations and how they impact operations.

Will periodically travel to locations throughout company’s operations in TX and NM. Will work in office, operations, and outdoor environments.

Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, engineering or a similar technical degree field.
At least 5 years related environmental experience as a degreed professional.

Improvement Specialist

Description

The Dow Chemical Company is now hiring for the role of Improvement Engineer at its Freeport, Texas Location. The successful candidate will closely work under the guidance of the Brine Mining & Storage Improvement Leader with other Improvement Specialists at Salt Dome Operation facility (SDO), the Production & Operations Leaders, Project Managers and Plant Operations. The primary role is to identify and implement process improvement opportunities at SDO in line with the Plant Specific Technology Plan (PSTP) that aligns with the global business strategy and goals. The Improvement Specialist will also help develop and implement Most Effective Technology (MET) for various unit operations.

Key responsibilities include:

* Identify, validate and prioritize improvement opportunities for inclusion into the PSTP.
* Serve as Manufacturing Representative on capital and expense projects in support of the PSTP.
* Use engineering skills and resources to develop low cost, innovative alternatives for TICA projects.
* Partner with plant operation personnel and Technology Center to secure process data for identification of technology gaps, improvement opportunities, and project definitions as well as MET implementation.
* Use and ensure compliance with the appropriate global work process (TICA, Global Project Methodology (GPM), etc.) and their supporting tools (Idea Tracker, Portfolio, etc.).
* Work with Operations and the Technology Center to help identify and implement MET for selected plant areas or key unit operations.
* Participate in multiple SDO teams, including operations, EH&S, Six Sigma, and project

Demonstrates leadership skills and actively participates in team meetings. Works well with SDO plant operations and plant leadership to ensure smooth implementation of projects. Helps develop specific plant and TICA plans to ensure

Demonstrates strong engineering skills (calculations, evaluations, process trouble-shooting, etc.) to appropriately identify
and validate opportunities. The ability to sort through complex issues and produce the highest value solution is essential.

VALUE CREATION:
Must understand the MSP Business and the SDO Objectives and goals. Adds value by focusing on opportunity gap closure and aligns personal activities with the MSP Business Strategy and MI Plans. Utilizes formal planning techniques and is accountable for timelines and milestones. Leverages value creating ideas from other experiences, plants or businesses. Capable of identifying, scoping and economically evaluating potential value-creating opportunities.
