Job Description
This position is with a food manufacturer and will be responsible for integrating processing requirements for product development projects. Duties include:
- Utilizing knowledge of processing methods and techniques to design product processing and test procedures for new products and process changes;
- Participating in testing with new machinery
- Leading new equipment testing protocol, process design, and testing for new products/processes;
- Providing technical leadership to other departments concerning new product/process
- Developing and recommending standard and innovative processing methodologies to enhance efficiency and product consistency;
- Analyzing process problems and determining causes and solutions;
- Recommending process improvements that improve quality, safety, and product/package security;
- Maintaining awareness of latest technologies in food processing.

Requirements:

Required Skills
- 4-year degree in Chemical Engineering required; Masters degree preferred.
- 5+ years experience in the food industry and process engineering;
- Knowledge and experience with processing in perishable and/or temperature sensitive food manufacturing;
- Strong project planning and project management skills

Chemical Engineering Co-op

Responsibilities:

Monsanto's Luling, LA facility has a Co-op opening available for a college student pursuing a degree in chemical/process engineering or related field who has completed at least the sophomore year. This Co-op assignment will last from January to June.

Responsibilities could include applying engineering and safety principles in a manufacturing environment. Also, responsibilities consisting of the application of engineering knowledge to projects within the Luling facility. These projects, which will be performed under the guidance and assistance of experienced engineers, have the effect of reducing waste, increasing efficiencies, streamlining process, troubleshooting issues, identifying cost savings and/or updating procedures.

Required Skills:

1) Students must be currently enrolled in college and have completed the sophomore year of an undergraduate degree. Only undergraduate students will be considered.

2) Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.8

3) Prior co-op or internship experience is a plus.

Selection is based on student credentials, behavioral-based interview results and the matching of student's skills to available openings.
