Senior Mechanical Drilling Systems Engineer

The primary function of this position is to conduct engineering activities in support of basic and detail engineering design of mechanical, marine and drilling equipment and systems on all mobile offshore drilling units; such as jack-up drilling rigs, semi-submersibles or on vessels such as drill ships, pipe-lay vessels or crane vessels.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:
# Oversee development, review and approval Gas, layouts and P&IDs for all
systems on mobile offshore drilling units or vessels.
# Review 3D model with the designers to verify the GA’s, layouts and P&IDs.
# Responsible for selection of methods and procedures and optimization of the
design and materials within the scope of the project specifications.
# Close cooperation and coordination with other department disciplines to
ensure that the design engineering is properly translated to the drawings and
specification.
# Coordinate effort and priorities with the Engineering Project Manager so that
the engineering output coincides with the overall project schedule.
# Coordinate manpower requirements with the department manager.
# The Engineer may be assigned as the Package Engineer for the equipment
or components of the marine and drilling systems. In this function he or she
will have technical responsibility for the design, procurement and
manufacture of these equipment and components, which may include
preparation of technical specifications, technical evaluation of
RFQ/equipment specifications and attending FAT, if required.
# The Engineer must be capable of working independently with direction from
their department supervisor.
# All tasks and duties as assignment by SBM Offshore Group Management.
Education and Experience:
# Bachelors Degree in Marine, Mechanical, Naval Architecture or Ocean
Engineering. An advanced Engineering degree or professional registration is
desirable.
# Experience with supervising a project team of engineers and designers
# Minimum 10 years engineering experience within the oil and gas industry
with 3-4 years experience with semi-submersibles, jack up and barge drilling
rigs, drill ships or other offshore facilities.
# Strong knowledge of all Classification Rules, national and international
standards, API standards that apply to the offshore facilities.

Gulf South is seeking a Measurement Technician for the Pensacola, FL location.

Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for maintaining safety and reliability, and ensuring regulatory compliance with the appropriate agencies. Additional responsibilities will include measurement O&M, balance of measurement systems, regulator and relief valve O&M, new construction, metering & preventive maintenance, over/short balance for measurement area, and regulator O&M (over pressure protection).

Basic requirements: The qualified candidates will have 3 or more years of experience in an I&E or Measurement capacity. This position requires the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet, ability to operate valve control wheels with a minimum of 50 turns, ability to work in extreme weather conditions, and the ability to stand for long durations. The duties performed by GSMs include:

•maintaining and repairing gas turbine engines and auxiliary equipment;
•working with blueprints, schematics and charts;
•performing administrative procedures related to gas turbine propulsion system operation and maintenance;
• performing work area inspections;
• testing lubricating oil and distillate fuels for contamination, neutralization and precipitation;
•operating standard test equipment;
•stopping engines and checking proper performance;
•replacing and adjusting operating tolerance of contacts, microswitches, relay switches, pressure switches and temperature switches;
•operating electric plant control and main propulsion equipment;
•operating pumps, turning gear, air compressors, oil purification system, low pressure air dehydrators and engineering control systems;

•using hoisting and lifting devices and maintaining special tools.

Qualifications and Interests
Personnel in this rating must have mechanical ability, manual dexterity and normal color perception. They should also have experience working with machines and have taken some courses in physics.

MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION
Assist supervisory engineers in those phases of product development and design activities and the design of electrical systems for the Mining Machinery Division product line. May perform functions described under design engineer.

JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Create multi-component electrical production and development designs which are functional, reliable, and cost effective by utilizing established design criteria and design expertise, interfacing with vendors as required, utilizing minimal supervision and including one or all of the following tasks.

A.) Perform necessary calculations to insure acceptable product performance and life.
B.) Suggest where necessary complex electronic circuitry to provide proper variable speed control of each product motion. Where such circuitry is developed by a supplier assist in developing an evaluation report that is intended to point out strengths and weaknesses of the design.
C.) Computer model and/or simulate product performance.
D.) Help writing microprocessor code to insure proper product performance.
E.) Assist in the development of programmable - controller programs or relay logic to provide system interlocking and protective circuitry for assigned products.

2. Perform functional design checking and approve completed drawings to assure functionality, reliability, and completeness of design.

3. Guide drafters, layout drafters, designers and design engineers, establish work requirements, provide training guidance, and conduct timely review of work activity.

4. Aid the overall effort toward sales and customer satisfaction by assisting in field and shop problem solutions and providing technical data and support on parts and sales inquiries.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS Graduate of an accredited engineering program: This entry level position required satisfactory achievement of technical courses commensurate with a BSEE program. Non-graduate: Eight to ten years experience in practicing the principles of electrical engineering, together with academic achievement of an electrical engineering basic core program. Must possess good verbal and written skills for the exchange of information between supervisor, subordinates and manufacturing personnel.
