Key Functions
This position requires a focused individual with strong oral and written communication skills to work with senior MITRE technical staff in an integrated product team environment. The student will participate in the analysis and evaluation of airborne systems.
Required Education/Experience:
Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree
Desired Education/Experience
Candidate must have completed at least 4 semesters towards a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.25.
Required Skills:
Candidates should have exposure through course work or prior internship to one or more of the following: solid modeling, thermal analysis, structural analysis, CFD analysis, and environmental test
Desired Skills
A blend of both technical and interpersonal skills is a plus. Experience using Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD, SINDA, and ANSYS (or similar software) is preferred.
Travel Statement
This position will require overnight travel up to 10 % of the time.
Clearance Statement
Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. For this position, MITRE will consider only applicants with security clearances or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

The Design and Manufacturing Engineering Department is responsible for meeting client’s needs with a strong and well rounded experience and knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and ISO-9000 quality control standards to develop, evaluate and improve design and manufacturing processes throughout design and production while meeting all customer’s requirements.
Experience Required;
Thorough understanding of the sheet metal fabrication, welding and assembly processes.
7yrs+ of experience in both design and manufacturing operations, including pervious experience or strong working knowledge of CNC programming and PLC programming.
Ability to apply principles, define problems, collect data, strong leadership skills with the ability to direct multiple projects and staff of 10-12 engineers.
Ability to interpret Design Concept of new product design, with an extensive and variety of technical skills (Fluid Dynamics, Thermal, Heat transfer calculations, Design review, interlocks, electro-mechanical etc.).
Thorough understanding and experience with Solidworks/Sheetmetal, and AutoCAD
The Mechanical Design Manufacturing Engineering Manager must be a strong communicator, dedicated team player and promote a positive work environment between engineers, supervisors, production personnel, suppliers, customers, sales and estimating.
The ability to anticipate the effects of change with keeping informed of industry technologies

Job Description
Work 1 on 1 with Client designers to develop harness packaging and resolve issues.
Attend (Or ensure team representation) for all corporate packaging meetings. Represent Dept 6840 (Client wiring group)
Work with systems engineer to develop initial full vehicle complexity chart based on latest product plan.
Model work to be done in NX.
Coordinate with designers and support teams to ensure all necessary teamcenter tasks are completed.
Must take Client Teamcenter training - 2 day course
Pull part numbers in fastcar and work with EBOM/CODEP group as necessary to support track vehicles.
Support Systems engineer and COC in all inline connector choices.
Write design requests to Client design group for all NX model work required.
Maintain/Update wiring group issues list.
Track and provide updates to all e-CIMS (Corporate issue tracking)
Ensure clearance checks are performed in NX and work to resolve all clearances that do not conform
Coordinate design studies as required
Minimum Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Experience working with Unigraphics
Wiring experience
