Civil Engineering Instructor

Spokane Community College seeks qualified candidates for consideration of employment in this adjunct (part-time) position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach various Civil Engineering Technology courses to include: drafting, surveying, strength of materials, hydraulics, structures, materials-science.
• Assignments can include distance education modes of instruction.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (Minimum Qualifications):
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
and/or PE license in Civil Engineering
and/or Land Surveying License and three years industry experience.
• Proficient in the topics listed above and basic construction surveying using levels and total station instruments for surveying classes.
• Must meet Washington State Vocational Certification Requirements (two years of recent work experience with six months of work experience within the past two years).
• Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
• A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of CCS.
• The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system.
• A demonstrated understanding and value for the contributions that a diverse workforce can make to the success of the organization and the students we serve.
• An earned Master’s degree in xxx from an accredited institution.

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (Desirable Qualifications):
• Teaching experience.
• Five years industry experience.
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Land Development Desktop, total station, and data collection.
