Product Engineer Mechanical O02

MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION

Assist supervisory engineers in those phases of product development and design activities relative to applicable Mining Machinery Division product line. May perform functions described under Project and Design Engineer.

JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Create complex designs of complete components, units, and assemblies which are functional, reliable, and cost-effective by utilizing creativity, innovation, and design expertise, interfacing with vendors as required.

2. Generate layout drawings of complex structures, mechanisms, gear-trains, and complete designs by utilizing innovation and design expertise.

3. Perform design performance checking and approve completed designs to assure functionality, reliability and completeness of design.

4. Guide design personnel in the successful completion of projects by providing technical direction and by planning, organizing, and reviewing of work activity.

5. Aid the overall effort toward sales and customer satisfaction by investigating and proposing field and/or shop problem solutions and product maintenance requirements, and providing support on parts and sales inquiries with technical data and customer presentations.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of an accredited engineering school or job knowledge gained through experience as defined in Type and Length of Experience for this position.

TYPE AND LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE

In addition to the experience requirements as defined for Project Engineer, this position requires approximately five to eight years experience in learning engineering procedures and design characteristics for mining machinery and demonstration of having acquired the design expertise to manage product component system design functions.
