Washington Division of URS Corporation is seeking a Sr Mining Engineer to work on various mining projects based out of our Denver office.

Basic Qualifications:
* 7+ years experience mine planning in metals / lignite coal;
* Planning operations of haul trucks, shovels, excavators, bucket wheel excavators,
* Experience using MINCOM software;
* Experience supervising junior level mining engineers

The Mining Operations Engineer plans and performs mining engineering duties related to development and production:

* Participates in engineering feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine-site facilities, capital and operating costs and manpower and production requirements.

· Prepares detailed ore reserve estimates defining recoverable ore, overburden quantities and stripping ratios.
· Develops practical mining plans, based on all available geological information, to support intermediate and long range planning and production goals.
· Assures maximum productivity and ore extraction rates through the utilization of the latest and most advanced mining methods, procedures and equipment.
· In collaboration with the mining operations engineering manager, determines scheduling, manpower, capital and equipment requirements to meet objectives.
· Recommends courses of action designed to eliminate potential production problems and to improve operational efficiency and control production costs.
· Works with geologists in exploration and assists in the engineering phase of development and operational activities.
· Maintains communication with environmental and geological staffs.
· Supervises a team of engineers and professional support personnel
