Sr. Drilling Engineer

This position is responsible for working with the Oxy Business Units (BU’s) and New Ventures groups to provide engineering support and optimize global drilling performance through consultation and maintenance of standards.

o Contribute to and support the development, deployment, institutionalization and auditing of Engineering Standards within the BU’s.
o Consult with BU’s in Problem Solving and Engineering work, as requested
o Participate in BU Peer Assists (PA), Peer Reviews (PR), and Risk Assessments (RA), as requested
o Support the BU’s to follow up on PA/PR/RA recommendations
o Coordinate with BU’s and New Ventures groups to provide detailed and documented well engineering designs and cost estimates
o Develop drilling programs for New Ventures drilling projects, as requested
o Work with Supply Chain Management to ensure proper technical specifications for drilling tools and services are included in applicable bid documents and contracts, and contribute to Global Service Quality Management meetings
o Maintain proficiency in drilling tools and services, and shares knowledge with the BU’s
o Identify and coordinate use of drilling best practices in BU’s as applicable
o Manage and coordinate the development and updating of standards for Contractor Management, Risk Management/MOC, and Best Demonstrated Practices well time targeting
o Assist with new hire recruiting and orientation, as required
o Assist the BU’s on equipment QA/QC and evaluation of new technology

Required Qualifications:
o Minimum of 10 years of oil field drilling experience
o Bachelors Degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent
