Position Sumamry:

The Clinical EMT assists in delegated patient care activities including daily living and basic nursing care procedures as well as identified competencies required in the assigned patient care unit. Performs other related duties as assigned. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Essential Functions: Other duties may be assigned. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job. All activities are performed under the direction of a Registered Nurse following Medical Center patient care standards. Assists patients with activities of daily living as patient needs require. Provides basic care in a timely manner respectful of the age and cultural needs of the patient. Performs required procedures skillfully with respect for Human Dignity. Demonstrates concern for the overall comfort of the patient. Uses infection control techniques in all patient care activities. Explains all care procedures to the patient/family prior to performing care. Accurately documents information in the appropriate place regarding patient care and/or response to care. Immediately communicates patient's needs condition changes observations and responses to the RN. Demonstrates the core values of the Medical Center in all interactions. Maintains identified skills/competencies. Demonstrates stewardship in the use of resources: equipment supplies and time. Demonstrates commitment to ensuring patient/family satisfaction with their Medical Center experience Actively participates as a member of the patient care team. Demonstrates skill in phlebotomy technique and basic specimen collection. Demonstrates competency of application of splints. Maintains knowledge of sterile technique to assist with suturing and wound care. Maintains knowledge of clerical function of the unit. Demonstrates competency in near patient testing. Performs unit related tasks: procurement and preparation of instruments and equipment restocking of supplies maintaining unit cleanliness etc.
