Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is a world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced helicopters for commercial, industrial and military uses. Sikorsky helicopters are used by all five branches of the United States armed forces, along with military services and commercial operators in more than 40 nations. 1. Design mechanical components.
Create functional mechanical designs within the communicated criteria and time frame.
2. Develop mechanical system designs.
Conceptualize, design and develop system specifications, applying knowledge of technology and materials to produce a design that considers; functionality, appearance, produceability, materials availability, and cost. Perform these tasks within the communicated criteria and time frame.
3. Coordinate with the involved shops to assure that the design criteria are met.
Communicate designs, data, and specifications to Lead Design Engineers, Shop Managers, and shop personnel in a clear and concise manner. Revise designs as required to maintain compliance with the design criteria / specification and maintain maximum shop productivity throughout the project. Assist in the resolution of problems and delays, in a time frame acceptable to the aircraft/project schedule. Report unresolved problems, delays etc. to Design Lead or Production Manager, in a time frame consistent with the need.
4. Perform product/vendor searches.
Assist in the identification of potential products and/or vendors that meet the design criteria / specifications. Coordinate proposed vendors and products with KHC purchasing and material procurement departments, and report findings and recommend actions to the Lead Design Engineer and/or Production Manager.
5. Arrange sample product delivery/acquisition for prototype evaluation.
When assigned, or when needed for a design project, obtain sample products as available from a vendor.
6. Perform value engineering.
As assigned, perform value analysis and present options with a recommended course of action for assigned projects to Design Lead for approval.
B.S. in Mechanical or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering preferred. Will also consider applicants having an Associates-level degree in Mechanical Design who possess considerable CATIA, Key Creator / CADKEY, or other 3-D Solid Modeling design software proficiency.
Ability to perform all job functions effectively both independently and within a workgroup.
Strong communication skills and ability to professionally represent KHC during customer and FAA meetings.
Familiarity with FAA Federal Aviation Regulations desired.
Experience with 3-D Solid Modeling Design Software (CATIA or CADKEY / Key Creator preferred),MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint.
